Why "The Kissing Booth 2" sucks (even more than the first one)

Okay, so 2 years ago, back in the summer of 2018 a movie called The Kissing Booth was released in Netflix and it was really, REALLY, bad and some days ago, the sequel was released and I tortured myself watching it. Here is my opinion on this awful movie.
So, The Kissing Booth first movie was about two best friends whose relationship was toxic af, they had some stupid rules like "not dating your BFF sibling" or "always forgive your BFF when he or she gives you icecream", cringy as hell, I know. And these two friends organize a kissing booth for some charity thing for school and Elle, who is the main protagonist, kisses Noah, who is the brother of Elle´s BFF, and they start secretly dating. And then towards the end of the movie, Lee, who is Elle´s BFF and Noah´s brother finds out and forces Elle to break up with him, literally, just because of the stupid rule and then at the end of the movie, obviously, Lee allows Elle to date Noah and they end up back together again. This whole movie series was based on some Wattpad novel so that explains pretty much how bad it is.

Okay, so now that I´ve explained what the first movie was about I´m gonna talk about the plot of the second. The Kissing Booth ends up with Noah going to Yale University (realistic af) and Elle in his motorcycle. This second movie is about Elle´s and Noah´s long-distance relationship and a new love triangle is created when Elle starts to rehearse for a dance competition in order to get money for college with a new guy called Marco. Also, Lee has a girlfriend and his girlfriend is mad at the fact that literally every time she is with Lee, his boyfriend, Elle is there too and that they don´t have any intimacy with Elle around.

The script is probably the cringiest and the most unrealistic script I´ve ever seen in my movie in my entire life, the first movie was horrible but this one is even worse. This movie is supposed to be a comedy and be funny because of its 3-year-old jokes but it´s only funny because it´s pathetic and stupid. For example, there´s a scene where Elle and Marco are having one deep conversation about relationships in the beach and Marco says something that is actually not lame and the out of the sudden he takes his guitar like if he was Mary Poppins or something cause the guitar was not visible through this whole scene. There is also a scene which was painful to watch, Marco and Elle rehearse to this whole dance competition in a gaming center and they start to dance in the platform and then the movie editor went crazy and started to add some really weird effect and suddenly is slow-motion and we are supposed to take this scene seriously. Seriously, it was super over-edited and forced. I don´t even know what to say about the actors as they don´t really get to show their acting skills with the script that they were given, I know that Jacob Elordi and Joey King are super good actors, as they both were in amazing shows and gave great performances, Jacob in Euphoria and Joey in The Act but this movie was just not it. The cinematography and direction are horrible as I´ve already mentioned, and the music is really neutral and boring.

So, the movie as a movie is super bad but my problem with this movie is not how bad it is but the relationships this movie portrays and how it doesn´t make the audience see that these relationships are all so toxic, they just praise them. As I´ve previously mentioned Elle´s and Lee´s relationship is super toxic and they have some rules, in this second movie there is a huge argument over some stupid rule: "Always go to the same school as your BFF". I get that they had these rules when they were 5 but now they are almost 18 and they continue to act like they were toddlers. Also, Elle is definitely the female character we deserve as a role model as she doesn´t make a single decision for herself, every decision she makes is for someone else. The whole college argument was because she didn´t want to go to Lee with college anymore because Noah asker her to go with him. She doesn´t even think about what she wants to do with her life, she just does what other people tell her. All relationships should be based on trust and respect and Elle´s relationship with these two men, Lee and Noah have nothing o it. We already got to know how possessive and impulsive Noah was in the first movie, and in this movie, we get to know more about this guy. Also, the movie doesn´t make any of the characters become better persons and evolve, Noah has some anger issues and instead of going to a therapist he just waits for some girl like Elle or the new girl Chloe to stop him from beating up someone just because his fragile masculinity has been triggered or something.
In conclusion, this movie is horrible and every single thing on it is bad, especially how it portraits relationships and the awful script.
