Hi! In this post, I´ll talk about some movies which I consider should have much more recognition than the one they have.

1. Bad Times at the El Royale, 2018.

This movie written and directed by Drew Goddard has an amazing cast including Jon Hamm, Dakota Jonhson, Jeff Bridges, and Chris Hemsworth, among other great actors. The movie is set in 1969 and features 7 strangers who have a lot of secrets who are staying at the El Royale. The movie has a really good plot and some really awesome scenes, the acting is really good and the music and cinematography are really cool.

2. The Witch, 2015.

This A24 movie written and directed by Robert Eggers is a masterpiece of the horror genre. The movie is about a puritan family in the 1930s in New England who have to move to the countryside and some really bizarre stuff starts to happen, like the disappearance of the baby. I´m not an expert on witchcraft of anything but some people who have a big knowledge on that field agree that the movie shows witches in a very realistic way, for example, witches used to take some drug in order to feel like they were flying and that is shown in the movie. The acting is this movie is really powerful acting especially Anya Taylor-Joy, who is the main character, and this movie is probably her best performance. Also, one of the best things this movie has is the soundtrack, really really scary, and the atmosphere is very well constructed.

3. Dunkirk, 2017.

This movie written and directed by the amazing Christopher Nolan was one of my favorite movies of 2017. It´s about the evacuation from the Dunkirk beach, in France, from three perspectives: air, land and sea. The movie is pretty good, in fact, it is my favorite war film ever. The cinematography is one of the best in a war film ever, among with 1917. The movie has almost 0 dialogue but the acting is good, it has Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, Fionn Whitehead, Harry Styles and much more. The soundtrack is by Hans Zimmer so it´s brilliant as always and the directing by the master Christopher Nolan is sublime as always.

4. The Before trilogy, 1995-2013.

This three movies written and directed by Richard Linklater stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy playing two young travelers who meet in a train and disembark in Vienna and just in one day fall in love, this is the plot of the first movie Before Sunrise. Then 9 years later they meet again in Paris, Before Sunset and then 9 years later we can see how their relationship has ended, Before Midnight. The way the whole relationship between the main characters felt like the most natural and realistic thing I´ve seen in a movie in a long time, and nothing felt unnatural or forced. The acting in this movie is really really good both Hawke and Delpy do a really amazing job portraying a couple with their strengths and their floods who just love each other.

5. I, Tonya, 2017.

This biopic about Tonya Harding directed by Gillespie stars Margot Robbie, Allison Janney (who won her amazing first Oscar for her performance in this movie) and Sebastian Stan. The movie is about the life of the figure skater Tonya Harding and the whole scandal with Nancy Kerrigan. The best thing about this movie is the acting, Margot Robbie should have won an Oscar for her performance in this movie, she´s amazing. The film has lots of humor and a really good soundtrack. The cinematography is also really good.
